We recently had one of our own Arizona Mushroom Society members get stranded in the woods. What was originally planned as an overnight camping trip turned into 15 days on their own miles from the nearest town or paved road and without communications or adequate supplies. Thankfully, they were found safe. However, this is a danger we as mushroom hunters could all be better prepared for.

We want to invite you to an opportunity to get better prepared and learn some essential and basic wilderness skills on October 17th at 8am to 6pm at Willow Springs Lake with TJ the Wilderness Man.

This 10-hour intensive class to learn the basics of wilderness survival from TJ, who has 38 years of experience teaching outdoor skills. This course is free, but you must register. Those who register successfully will receive a registration confirmation email (make sure to check your spam folder). Donations will be accepted.

Those who finish the course will receive a Wilderness Survival 101 certificate and get a fire kit for making fire from sticks and not bics. Those with the certificate will be able to attend future courses that are held all over AZ at different times of year. Also, those attending will be eligible to win one of TJ's hand forged knives.
