Registration Full
Join us for a small group foray north of Flagstaff, on Saturday, September 2, 2023. This limited event includes a unique opportunity to hunt for and learn about out local fungi on The Nature Conservancy's productive Hart Prairie Preserve, north of Flagstaff.
Summer forays are a valuable opportunity to learn about our local funga, and while edibles are likely to be found it is not the goal of the foray. If you are interested in learning about local mushrooms, and haven't had an opportunity to register for an AMS event this year, here is a chance for you.
Those registered will need to meet at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 2nd north of the Flagstaff area. Access to the foray location requires driving for several miles on a unsurfaced forest roads, and high clearance vehicles are recommended. Details on meet-up location will be sent to registered participants once you are registered.
Please only register if you are sure you can attend. There are limited spaces available for people to participate.
Please be sure to come to the event prepared for summer monsoon season in the high mountains. You will need hiking boots, sunscreen, food, water, rain gear, and basic first aid supplies. Please be sure to bring a trusty knife and/or garden trowel, and basket or paper bags or baskets for collecting mushrooms.
The monsoon activity is expected to become active again this weekend. It is possible the event is delayed or cancelled due to thunder storms.
Registrants can include one guest. Children under 15 may attend with a registered adult and must be under supervision of their parent(s) at all times. This event includes hiking at high elevation, sometimes in areas with heavy downed logs and debris, which can be difficult for children and many of us as well!
This event is free to all AMS members who register. If you are the only member of your household signing up for the event, you can sign up one non-AMS guest to attend. Those who register will receive an e-mail with the meet-up location and time. Please make sure to check your spam folder if you do not receive an e-mail.
This event is free of charge.
No pets allowed on the Preserve.
