If you are a beginner, amateur, or expert mycologist, one of the most important tools in your tool bag is the iNaturalist app.

Join Scientific Committee Chair Terri Clements, for a zoom meeting to learn about the one tool you can use to both better identify fungi (plants and animals too), contribute to research-grade databases for scientists, and tap into the vast knowledge of observations in your area. Terri will be discussing how we use the iNaturalist app to document fungi specimens that she then has DNA sequenced and identifies through phylogenetic analysis. iNaturalist is a key part of the process to  electronically record fungi specimens that are found (by anyone) and identify them. If you want to be part of that process or see the results of several years of Terri's hard work identifying our local Arizona mycoflora, there is no better way than to join us for this zoom meeting.

We want to encourage all Arizona Mushroom Society members to learn and use iNaturalist to help us learn more about the fungi in our area. This class is a prerequisite for anyone who registers for the Citizen Science Sky Island Fungi Survey on August 19-20, 2022.
