Please come join us for the 2019 Annual Holiday Potluck Dinner & Member Meeting of The Arizona Mushroom Society, Inc.

When: Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.

Where: Maricopa County Extension Service Building, Palo Verde Room, located at 4341 East Broadway in Phoenix, Arizona. The entrance (easy to miss in the dark) is on the South side of Broadway Rd, about 30 feet east of the Traffic Light at 43rd Place.

What: 

--- Lecture and grow bags! ---

Bill Warner will be sharing information on the Pleurotus (think oyster mushrooms) of Arizona.

But that's not all! Bill Warner will also be bringing supplies to guide an activity to put together mushroom grow bags using the very quick and easy "Tam Method".

It will be a great opportunity to learn a unique method for creating a mushroom grow bag and you will be able to bring one home with you!

 --- AMS Communication and Voting ---

We will also have an opportunity to share information on our organizational accomplishments for 2019 and vote for new Arizona Mushroom Society Board Members. 

AMS board members are voted in for a two year term, and positions are staggered so that each year, 2 board members' terms are expiring. Since AMS membership is family-based (a single membership provides access to your immediate family), there is one vote for each membership.

We will be accepting nominations (nominate yourself or someone else) for any member who would like to participate with AMS and become a member of the board for our non-profit organization! We need help from anyone interested in helping with sharing amazing experiences and furthering education, scientific knowledge, and charitable giving through mushrooms! To submit a nomination, please contact Mike Dechter. Those who accept a nomination will be part of the board member election to replace two current board members: a vacant seat and that of Nathan Markham.

 ------ Potluck Plans -------

If you can, please bring a dish to share at the potluck according to the following assignment:

If your last name begins with letter A-H, please bring a salad or side dish; if I-P please bring a dessert; if Q-Z please bring a main dish.

Of course, please bring the proper utensil with which to serve the dish. AMS will bring plates and cups. If the dish is to be served hot, bring your own crock-pot, skillet, etc. and extension cord to be plugged in.

If you bring a dish containing wild-picked mushrooms, you should note that sharing of mushrooms between members is at the sole risk of the individuals involved, and should comply with the Society's safety guidelines.

Coffee, water, ice, paper plates, cups and plastic utensils will be provided by the Club.
