The North Rim of the Grand Canyon is warming up after a pretty snowy winter and a modest rainfall early last week. Pickings have been slim up there for our scouts the past couple of weeks, but the snow is mostly melted now. If there are going to be morels, this Memorial Day weekend is likely to be our best chance for a decent foray.
The photo above is from this time last May on the North Rim. We don't expect such abundance this year, but we will do our best.

OTHER INFO: Get the free Motor Vehicle Usage Map from the Kaibab National Forest that can be installed on your iPhone or other GPS-equipped smartphone.
If you are tempted to go picking on your own, be advised that you need to stay in the National Forest. You are not allowed to pick mushrooms in the Grand Canyon National Park, and the boundaries are not necessarily marked.
