Hi - I'll be at both the vineyards this weekend and will see which one would could accommodate us during those times.  Saturdays are bad if we have a large group but I will check with them.  Thanks

Any update about a wine and mushroom party at Javelina Leap Winery?

    ---

We were never quite able to get this going. The morel season looked like it was not going to happen at all until mid-April, and even after that it was a bit too ephemeral to plan our event around.

Instead, I propose we do the tasting in June or early July, before the summer mushroom season gets going. I think it would be especially fun to combine a member meet-up and wine tasting with huitlacoche tacos and tamales. This species of "corn smut"  (a.k.a. Mexican truffles, Ustilago maydis) is a real delicacy south of the border, and we have a source where we can get it frozen:

It can also be had in cans, but this is said not to be nearly as tasty as fresh or frozen.

Those of you on the Culinary Committee who want to see this happen, get in touch with Susanna and let's make it fly. Would be a real hoot I think, and a good chance for members in the Verde Valley and Flagstaff area to get together.

    Hi Ed,

No one on the Foray Committee was free to take us out this weekend. I would lead it myself but I am working both days. It is not expected to be favorable anyway this weekend; we are receiving reports of dry conditions and low yields.

A storm is expected early next week, and there's a very good likelihood I will be taking a group out on the weekend of 4/30-5/1. The announcement should be Tuesday or Wednesday, so be sure you are getting emails from us and they are not going in your junk folder. We might try to do the wine-tasting mentioned previously if enough people are interested.

You can "Subscribe" to each forum or topic individually.

Unless it rains pretty hard, this one is probably not going to take place.

Sounds like fun.  Have the foray on the calendar.  Just happened to notice this topic when I logged in.  Is there a way to get email notifications of new postings from this website in the same way we could set them up for the Arizona Mushroom Forum facebook page?

This is probably going to take place 4/24, after a morel foray, so save the date.
